Beyond The Surface: Erratic Landscapes of "The Californias"

This conversation focused on how natural phenomena and human ecology shape societal and political discourse and collective imagination. Erratic landscapes, or shifting habitats that erode or regenerate over time, are the result of the influence of citizenship, geopolitics, and social justice on the environment. The critical geography between California and Baja California has been fueled by a collective imagination oriented by the notions of a "promised land" and utopia, obscuring the impact of industry, economy, and power struggle on local ecosystems, and consequently, on human rights.
