Proposal

Drawing on the tradition of the California Light and Space movement, San Diego-based artist Jim Skalman created an installation titled The Tower/La Torre that joined these sensibilities in a minimal expression of calculated form, space, and light. Skalman chose to work at La Torre in Tijuana because of its architectural space, history, and the possibilities it offered. The artist created a sparse installation housing few constructed forms and lit the interior rooms with diffused lighting to further transform them into spaces of contemplation.
