The sociologist Norma Iglesias has introduced the concepts of “Borderisms” or “Fronteridades” to understand the particular conditions of the region. She has also worked on developing other concepts, such as “transborderism” and what borders mean, expanding their political, narrative, and creative meanings. This dialogue was inspired by her extensive research based on “mental maps or intimate cartographies of the border,” in which their creators developed very partial and personal views on the idea of the border and its cultural diversity.
