Untitled, 1994

Argentinean-born artist Enrique Ježik’s untitled piece was located at the Santa Fe Depot in Downtown San Diego. Ježik specifically wanted to consider issues he felt the site naturally conjured up and referenced, and that to him seemed two culturally shaping forces—labor and violence. Featuring elements such as railway ties and sledgehammers, the installation evoked strength and struggle through material and physical labor.
