Tijuana infoSite, 2005

The R Tj-SD Workshop, consisting of a group of young architects and architecture students from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Tijuana, and led by Mexican architect and urbanist Gustavo Lipkau, was invited by inSite to design the Tijuana infoSite. By inserting an extremely light and formally simple parasitical structure over the concrete sphere housing the Centro Cultural Tijuana’s Omnimax Cinema, the R_Tj-SD Workshop produced an ephemeral architectural appendiege of wood and glass. This concrete sphere known as “La bola” is a cultural landmark of Tijuana. The temporary building with its fretwork floor and ramps was open to the public from August 26 to November 13, 2005.
