Children’s Park, 2000

Working in collaboration with the community of Lomas del Porvenir, Caro Limón generated a new public space—a children’s park—in the Infonavit Social Center in Tijuana. His project was based on a series of workshops for children that introduced topics such as the history of Tijuana’s parks, their play function, regional flora, and the meaning of design. The children developed original design ideas, discussed several models for the park, and participated in the park’s construction. In conceiving this project, Caro Limón drew on the children’s imagination, stimulating the park’s users to envision it collectively in accord with their requirements and desires.
