(Mexico, 1948)

Process

Carlos Aguirre’s project for inSITE94, None for Political Reasons II/Ninguno por razones politicas II, was located at the downtown space of the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego. Incorporating human bone, soil, refuse, man-made materials, and the central object of a funerary boat, Aguirre’s project spoke of the temporal, transitional, and cyclical. The installation conjured up images of ritual and ceremony, referencing the journey from life to death.
