As part of the three-day event, UABC’s Faculty of
Architecture director Alejandro Peimbert and architect
Carolina Díaz were invited to curate a series of walks
related to Mexicali’s history, architecture, and urban
transformation. The visits included the international
border, the Rio Nuevo area, the Civic Center built in
the 1970s, the Laguna Mexico, Chinatown, museums,
galleries, and the 1940s art deco Curto cinema, where
Ruth Landy’s documentary Places for the Soul about
Christopher Alexander was screened.
