For the artist commission, Torreblanca has invited artist Pastizal Zamudio (Mexicali, 1991). As part of their practice, Zamudio collects objects, writes, takes photographs, and realizes minimal, ephemeral sculptural interventions during frequent journeys between their hometown, Mexicali, B.C., and the several cities in the U.S where they travel to work as a farmworker. During six months, the artist will develop an expanded visual diary—focused on interests that include recounting family histories, travelling to California to work in agricultural fields, and realizing an expedition in the Baja California Peninsula.
Zamudio studied a Bachelor´s degree in Fine Arts, Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) in Mexicali. During 2014 and 2020 they directed an artist-run space Escritorio de Procesos/Habitantes Polisimulltáneos in Mexicali and South Oregon.
